How Yoga can Change your Life? | The African Exponent.
I was sitting on my yoga mat doing a pose called Warrior One when an instructor told us that the pose was named for our mind. She encouraged us to approach the pose with the mind of a warrior. That was the title she gave to the class, I know that now. And I believe it was the first time I looked at yoga and felt that maybe it really could change my life. That’s what yoga is about.
So when I was pregnant with my second child, I took up yoga in a more formal way. I took the prenatal yoga class and continued it while I was pregnant. And I continued taking yoga and meditation classes during my entire pregnancy.
These classes made a difference to me. They gave me a sense of my body, it gave me strength. Even though I didn’t go to the yoga studio regularly, I went to class every week to get in a little yoga. I couldn’t just take it on my own, I had to teach it to others. I kept up with yoga by reading the yoga magazines and books. The things I learned there changed my life and taught me to have an open mind to other yoga practices. And if that’s not changing your life, I don’t know what is.
I hope that you will continue taking yoga and yoga classes. I think if you do, you will have a mind that is open to new ideas and yoga can change your life. I have changed my life because yoga changed mine.
